UAE Authorities Issue Orange Rain Alert
People are being warned about unstable weather conditions, causing concern for residents.
In response to the inclement weather, Abu Dhabi Police took proactive measures by lowering the speed limit on the Al Ain-Dubai road on a Friday afternoon. The decision was prompted by the onset of rain in the area, prompting authorities to ensure safer road conditions for motorists.
In an official advisory issued by the authorities, it was communicated that the speed reduction system had been activated along the Al Ain-Dubai road. As a result, drivers were duly cautioned not to surpass a speed limit of 120kmph during their journey in the region. This proactive step aimed to mitigate potential accidents and enhance road safety during the adverse weather conditions.

The National Meteorology Centre (NCM) raised an orange alert for Al Ain, as meteorological reports indicated rainfall of varying intensities in the vicinity. Among the reports, Malaqit experienced heavy rainfall, while Al Hiyar encountered more moderate showers. The volatile weather patterns were projected to continue until 8pm, underscoring the temporary nature of the unstable conditions.
A compelling visual depiction of the impact of these weather conditions was provided by a video shared by the Storm Centre, a weather monitoring entity. The video showcased vehicles navigating through pools of water in Al Hiyar, highlighting the challenges posed by the precipitation.
In addition to Al Ain, other areas were also subjected to the orange and yellow alerts.

Echoes of the inclement weather were experienced in different parts of the country on the preceding Thursday. Reports emerged of heavy rain accompanied by hail in Sharjah, further highlighting the unpredictable nature of the weather during this period.
